Holocaust Survivor to Speak at Kristallnacht Commemoration
Sacred Heart University’s Office of Mission & Catholic Identity and the Human Journey Colloquia Series will host Holocaust survivor Claire Boren as part of the annual Kristallnacht commemoration on Wednesday, November 13, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit. Boren will be the guest speaker for this year’s observance of Kristallnacht, the “Night of Broken Glass” when Nazis broke the windows of Jewish businesses, schools and synagogues in Germany in 1938, resulting in death, arrests and the beginning stages of the Holocaust. Boren’s message is to “always remember that prejudice and hatred must be stopped whenever it occurs. We must all try to do the right thing and cry out whenever you see injustice and other people persecuted. You must not stay silent.” Part of the Chapel of the Holy Spirit 10th Anniversary calendar of events.
