New Executive Director of Admissions Brings Experience to Role

Sacred Heart University alumna Pam Pillo, who formerly served as executive director of graduate admissions, is returning to Sacred Heart to assume the role of executive director of undergraduate admissions. With more than 10 years of professional experience in higher education and an extensive student recruitment background, Pillo, a Monroe resident, will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating admissions activities to advance SHU’s mission and enrollment goals.

Graduate Student Earns Award for SHU Vaping Awareness Campaign

Gabrielle Diaz, a graduate student working on a master’s degree in public health at Sacred Heart University, has earned the Michael J. Perlin award from the Connecticut Public Health Association for her work in the implementation of SHU’s first vaping awareness campaign. The Michael J. Perlin Award honors students who are enrolled in a public health program and demonstrate a commitment to leadership and volunteerism through student activities or community service.

Sacred Heart Presents All-Female Production of Richard III

William Shakespeare’s Richard III—a play known for its strong, manipulative and powerful male characters—will take the stage at Sacred Heart University in November with an all-female cast. When a talented group of actresses auditioned for the Theatre Arts Program (TAP) production, director and adjunct professor John Flaherty thought that having them fill all 19 roles made sense, even though Shakespeare wrote only four female characters in the play. “There were so many solid female performers who tried out,” he said.
